Suzanne Rendahl

Year started at RVC

Dartmouth College
Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher

How did you get into fitness?
I have scoliosis. I learned in my 20s that the focus on alignment in Iyengar Yoga helped me manage this condition and find strength, flexibility, and grace that I had never experienced before.

What are your goals for your group exercise class participants?
My goal is to make every student find or learn something new in class, whether it be trying a new pose, balancing better, going deeper into a pose, or finding greater peace of mind and spirit. I also try to foster a community spirit, where participants care and look out for each other in and sometimes even out of class.

Why do you like working at RVC?
I love the emphasis on helping members grow and achieve their goals. Every success can be celebrated.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
You can often find me swimming before class. Swimming and yoga both strengthen my body and calm my mind.

Are there any other fun facts you’d like to share?
I have a 16-year-old and an almost 12-year-old who challenge me in the best of ways every day. Just this morning my son helped me relearn the Pythagorean Theorem!

‘Can’t’ is no longer in my vocabulary, and I have a sense of pride in my ability to work toward a goal and not only achieve it, but often exceed it.
