The Upper Valley is full of healthcare workers, so I’m certain that many will relate when I say that 2021 was one of the most difficult years of my life.
It was a year where I’ve questioned my career path, my values, and my life’s choices. Most painfully, however, were the moments that I’ve questioned my own capabilities.
From the outside, many will not understand how much River Valley Club has meant to me over this last year.
I could talk about my wonderfully educational tennis classes with Coach Arado, or about the front desk associates who always remember my name, or about how River Valley Club helps me to feel closer and more a part of the Upper Valley Community.
I feel that it’s most important, though, to talk about the two classes that I have attended every week, and never missed, for almost a year. I am so grateful for Vinyasa “Power” Yoga with Tomoko Liguori, who has helped me build my strength enough that I can do a hand-stand for the first time in 15 years! Her class helps me feel an inner quiet that can otherwise be so hard to find.
Jennifer Karr, who may be one of the most inspiring people in my life, deserves her own thank you letter. And I hope she notices how awesome my legs are becoming from her class! But for JK, I’ll just finish by saying this: Every week, during some of the hardest moments in our spinning hour, JK will say “Go to your happy place.” What she might not know is that, for me, that place is right here at the River Valley Club.

“On behalf of our dedicated RVC crew, we wish to thank June and others who have worked so tirelessly to ensure our health and safety. We are grateful to have Pharmacy Techs like June to administer the vaccine and step up on the front line to get us through this pandemic safely. We are lucky she chose our safe haven to commit to her physical and mental wellness endeavors. She is always ALL IN! Thank you!”
