I am writing to thank Jennifer Karr (JK) and RVC for your support during this difficult time of pandemic and quarantine.
Before corona social-distancing, I could count on you for BodyCombat and Spinning, on Nitzah Winters and Emily Cleaveland for Body Pump. I could count on a pleasant greeting at the front desk and a clean Club thanks to the staff. In class I had my peeps around so that the extroverted me, who happens to be an academic, could have social time and healthy me-time thanks to RVC. I tend towards critique (consider my line of work) and I don’t believe in grade inflation; but the club regularly earns a B+ (fully competent) and sometimes A/A- (original, creative thought).
Quarantine hit and I began climbing the walls. In case you didn’t understand: I.WAS.CLIMBING.THE.WALLS. First I reached out and we did two personal training sessions. Personal training is great: RS on her own after five pushups: “I’m tired. That’s enough.” JK with RS after more pushups than I would ever want or need: “Don’t quit!” “Pull your stomach muscles in,” “Don’t put your head down like that….” I discovered muscle soreness where I never knew I had muscles. But I really lived for RVC classes, because I am an extrovert.
Enter RVC Digital. I would not love RVC digital in normal times, but I LOVE RVC DIGITAL DURING CORONA PANDEMIC! I have the chance to continue to connect about my fitness on a daily basis. ZOOM means I see you in real-time for spinning, for BodyCombat. You work hard; I work hard. You say “Don’t quit!” and I don’t quit. You ask about MyZone percentages, and I monitor MyZone and I work harder. And I get to see other RVC peeps as Hollywood Squares! Digital BodyCombat will never be the same as the club on Saturday morning; but it is the closest I can get. And I am moving. Let me repeat: I.AM.MOVING. RVC gets an “A” for RVC Digital.
As ever, what is good at RVC happens because of the team. SHOUT OUT to Ross whom I have never met but who sends me a lot of important emails, like ZOOM codes, on a daily basis. Please keep up the good work.
I do believe the quarantine is giving me space to see what matters in my life. RVC and its people have contributed so significantly to my health and quality of life and are really stepping up now to help me through this difficult time. I don’t believe I am alone. Thank you.
