I’ve been coming to the River Valley Club for years taking Complete Fitness when I was still working and Forever Fit since retirement.
These classes suited me; I enjoyed the combination of aerobics and free weight training. I also use the treadmill on the fitness floor, I don’t use the weight machines; group classes work best for me.
I was interested in trying the Reformer classes and discovered that I like the smaller group classes. In the Pilates Reformer classes I get more personal attention and I feel like the instructor can give corrections that are appropriate for me. I like the challenge of listening to directions and getting my body to a point where I can do the exercise moves correctly.
Three years later, I am much more flexible and have gained more abdominal strength. I am more aware of how to hold myself in space – balance, posture and breathing. My goal is to stay walking as straight as I can for my age and work on improving my balance.
I find the Pilates Reformer classes rewarding because of the mutual support among and between participants and instructors. I have made several new, good friends in the relaxed, but very professional atmosphere the Pilates instructors create.
