10+ Years of Service: Personal Trainers

We are celebrating one of the reasons why RVC is so special — the dedication of the group of our personal trainers who have devoted over ten years of their lives to changing the lives of others here in the Upper Valley at RVC! We asked them all to answer some questions to share with you!

Janet Wetzel-Greger

Why are you a personal trainer? Health, wellness and fitness have always been an important aspect of my life. I became a personal trainer in my 20s. And now I’m in my 50s and as I have aged, I personally have experienced the benefits of having an active lifestyle and the importance of daily fitness. I train clients in all age groups, fitness levels and stages in life. Each has a different goal list and those goals can range from overall fitness to weight loss to improved athleticism and sport performance to balance and flexibility work. The goals are broad and wide. As a trainer, I support, encourage, engage, educate and communicate with clients to enrich, enhance and improve the quality of their lives and assist them in achieving their personal fitness and wellness goals. We establish a relationship that creates a hardworking team. I love my job as a trainer… It is rewarding, fulfilling and enriching.

Why do you enjoy working at RVC? We have wonderful members who are friendly, outgoing, engaging and are at RVC to enhance their health, wellness and fitness. RVC has an incredible team of employees. All departments work together to achieve the RVC Core Values and to make the time our members spend at RVC the best experience of their day. The environment for both staff and members is fresh, lively, positive, motivating and encouraging.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned over your career at RVC? We are in the people business. We are at RVC for people. We change peoples’ lives each day. We improve the lives of our members so they can live their lives completely.

Why are you a personal trainer? Living a lifestyle of health and wellness is something I have always and consistently been very good at. I have been fortunate enough to stay very physically and mentally fit and disciplined enough to eat extremely well all of the time. My personal mission is to influence as many humans as possible to live a lifestyle of wellness. My greatest reward is knowing those I have trained or taught have grasped the very best habits of taking care of themselves, living consistently well lifestyles and making the best choices possible to live their best lives.

Why do you enjoy working at RVC? The River Valley Club is not your typical health club. We are unique and have fashioned a wonderful community where we are all family. I am so grateful to be able to report to what I refer to as “the best one-stop wellness hub.” I am committed to making sure all members I encounter utilize the Spa and Salon, Physical Therapy services, Café, Group Ex offerings, Aquatics, Tennis, Cross Fit, FITshop, Childcare and take full advantage of absolutely everything our amazing health club has to offer. As one of the original employees, I take great pride in knowing I have contributed to our success in several departments serving many roles. Everyone has a basic human need to belong to something special, and at RVC we clearly have a great tribe with an even brighter future in sight.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned over your career at RVC? I have learned so much from so many of the talented fitness professionals I have had the honor to work with and am fascinated with the evolution of the health and wellness industry. Grasping the simple fact that I am responsible for changing lives has enabled me to form lifelong relationships with my most favorite humans who, in turn, have taught me about the greatest gifts: passion, happiness, patience and love. Ultimately, I was made to do what I do.
