How to Start Tennis as an Adult

If you are a first-time player, our Never Ever Series is the place to start. In this clinic, participants learn the basics, including the proper grip and mechanics of the groundstrokes, volleys and serve. In addition, players will learn how to keep score and maintain a slow-paced rally by the end of the series. First-time players can do the Never Ever Clinic Series up to one time.

For players just coming out of our Never Ever Series or for players who have had some basic instruction before entering our program, our Beginner Series continues to progress your game. This five-week series is focused on continuing to develop proper form and technique with a particular focus on rallying and point play. At the end of the Beginner Series, in which a participant may enroll in up to two times, players should be able to keep a more consistent rally and should understand point play for singles and doubles.

Finally, our Advanced Beginner Series continues to develop consistency on groundstrokes, volleys, and the serve. We will regularly play points and will begin to introduce the use of specific shots in point development. We recommend enrolling in this series as many times as it takes for you to become comfortable to move on to the Intermediate level.

With each of these series, in addition to the clinics, players will be invited to participate in some organized match play during each session.

Our comprehensive adult beginner program provides a cohesive experience for players new to the game. We have seen numerous players swing a racquet for the first time, and many of these players have progressed through our program and now compete on one of our many competitive teams. We are committed to fostering a supportive environment and are confident that those who participate in any one of these levels will find a new community!
