“Retiring in 2003 after 41 years of teaching and 24 years of headmastering, I was ready to relax and enjoy life. Having no major health problems and being a lover of good food and wine, I managed to keep my weight around 210 pounds — 10-20 pounds overweight, but I was cross-country skiing and doing gym exercise.
Over the next nine months, I shed 25 pounds and went from a size 44 jacket to a 42 and from 38 expandable-waist trousers to size 35 jeans. To get my posture and body back into proper alignment, I had weekly training sessions with Cindy.
She explained things and encouraged me, but she never pushed me beyond my limits. These sessions were supplemented with regular walking, cross-country skiing, and gym workouts.
My problem was the five months we spend on the coast of Wales each year, with scenic coastal walks, great sailing, but no gym nearby. So Liz bought me a TRX for my 73rd birthday (much cheaper than a sailboat) and I was able to maintain my training over the spring and summer.
I have continued my restricted diet and become more and more what I wanted to be in my 50’s, when I was too busy with my professional responsibilities. I look forward to more years in the same reasonable shape. Thank you, Liz and Cindy!”
